OppenheimerFunds survey finds parents falling behind

A survey of 1,001 parents across the nation, conducted by OppenheimerFunds, found that college remains a big part of the American Dream but that parents need to improve their college savings efforts.

Eighty-three percent of respondents believe the cost of college is worth it, given a college education's value. However, nine out of ten parents somewhat or strongly agree that if tuition keeps rising, college will become unaffordable for most families. And 43% of parents have in fact saved less than $5,000 towards college.
