State 529 officials meet with regulators
A delegation of state treasurers and representatives of the College Savings Plans Network met separately with the SEC, the MSRB, and the Treasury Department on June 28 and 29, 2004 to discuss self-regulatory efforts and other issues germane to the 529 industry.
CSPN is soliciting input from the SEC and the MSRB regarding its recently adopted voluntary disclosure guidelines. SEC Chairman William Donaldson reportedly was receptive to the state efforts and indicated to the visiting delegation that the agency is hoping to release a task force report on college savings plans sometime no later than fall 2004.
