New Senate Finance staff comes from 529 lobbyist firm

John O'Neill, formerly an attorney with Davis & Harman LLP in Washington, D.C., has joined the Senate Finance Committee as pension and tax counsel. He succeeds Diann Howland, who was with the Finance Committee since Sen. Chuck Grassley became chairman in January 2001. O'Neill's former law firm has recently been hired by the College Savings Foundation (CSF) to lobby Congress on behalf of its 529 agenda. CSF is an industry group representing a number of 529 plan providers.
