Congress to hold hearings on 529 plans - Update
The House Committee on Financial Services, chaired by Rep. Michael Oxley (R-OH), has scheduled a hearing on May 5, 2004 to investigate fee transparency and other issues with 529 plans and college savings. This comes in the wake of correspondence between Chairman Oxley and the SEC over recent weeks.
The House hearings have been rescheduled for June 2, 2004. In addition, the Senate Government Affairs Subcommittee on Financial Management has scheduled hearings on 529 plans for June 7, 2004.
