Illinois Treasurer cuts fees for Bright Directions College Savings Program
The Illinois Treasurer's Office announced a newly negotiated contract that eliminates set-up and maintenance fees for the Bright Directions 529 plan.
The new contract eliminates the $10 set-up fee and $3 quarterly maintenance fees previously charged to the accounts. Management fees will also be slashed by 43 percent. The changes will take effect Nov. 15.
