529 plan assets continue to reach year-over-year highs
Strategic Insight reports total 529 college savings plan assets have reached $191.3 billion as of September 30, 2013. This is a 16.9% increase over assets from the third quarter of 2012.
Net outflows (contributions minus withdrawals) in 3Q13 were at $0.603 billion, compared to $0.845 billion in 3Q12, indicating that families are successfully spending 529 plan savings on qualified higher education expenses.
