Fidelity survey shows families falling further behind in college savings

The annual College Savings Indicator study from Fidelity Investments recently reported that families can cover only 11 percent of the total cost of their children's college education, down from 15 percent a year earlier (2008). However, the study found that parents with children aged 18 and younger are making progress in their savings behaviors. In fact, 63 percent have already started saving for college costs vs. 60 percent last year.
