As the foremost authority on college savings, our website has been providing a plethora of useful and technical information since 1999. We decided it was time to give our blog a facelift to create another way to connect with our visitors and establish ourselves as experts. Whether you are a new parent, grandparent or professional advisor, we are committed to offering the most timely and relevant content while encouraging interaction, comments and feedback.

What You Can Expect

Our blog will help dispel popular myths regarding saving for college and provide useful tips for those who don’t know where to start. Deciding whether or not to use a financial advisor to help select a plan? We’ll discuss that, too. We'll also share our insights on timely news and events taking place within the college savings sphere. We recently conducted the first of what will be our Annual College Savings Survey and evaluated results from over 2,000 respondents. We’re very excited to share this year’s findings with our readers in addition to future year-over-year trends. Other topics you can expect to learn about include:

A Trusted Source

Our audience may include parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, financial professionals or ANYONE who is looking for help understanding how to save money for college. We will feature posts written by our in-house team, as well as thoughts from Joe Hurley, our resident 529 expert.

Joe was at the forefront when 529 plans first arrived on the scene back in 1997. He realized their potential and wrote “The Best Way to Save for College – A Complete Guide to 529 Plans”. With over 100,000 copies sold, this book is on its 10th edition and is the top resource on 529 plans and other college savings strategies. Following the success of his book, Joe launched Savingforcollege.com.

Today, he remains widely recognized as one of the top 529 experts in the country, and savingforcollege.com continues to be the leading source of information on saving money for higher education. He is often requested for numerous speaking engagements at conferences and other events around the country, and has appeared at congressional hearings to provide insight on Section 529.

Be Our Guest

To keep things interesting, we always welcome comments or questions on any of our posts. Additionally, we welcome guest bloggers to share their thoughts and industry expertise.
