September may be back to school for many families, but did you know it’s also College Savings Month? If you haven’t started saving for college yet, this is a great time to start and make a game plan. If you’re already a college saver, now is a perfect time to analyze where you are on your college savings journey and what you can do to maximize your efforts and grow your savings even more.

For College Savings Month in September, there are many promotions and events to inspire you to start saving for college or save more. Check out our list below to enjoy these College Saving Month promotions.

Ohio’s 529 Plan – CollegeAdvantage

CollegeAdvantage is offering three sweepstakes, each offering a $10,000 college savings award from Ohio’s MLB franchises and a NFL franchises.

The Cincinnati Bengals Kickoff College Savings Giveaway can be accessed at https://www.collegeadvantage.com/bengals. The sweepstakes ends Sunday, December 6 at 11:59 pm ET.

The Cincinnati Reds College Savings Grand Slam can be accessed at https://www.collegeadvantage.com/reds2020. The contest ends next Sunday, September 27 at 11:59 pm ET.

The Cleveland Indians College Savings Giveaway can be entered at https://www.collegeadvantage.com/indians. The contest ends next Sunday, September 27 at 11:59 pm ET.

They have also launched a series of videos answering basic 529 questions.

Edvest College Savings Plan Bonus – Wisconsin

For new accounts, Wisconsin’s Edvest is offering $50 with a minimum deposit of $250. CollegeChoice Sweepstakes – Indiana 

CollegeChoice is running their first-ever Save to Win Sweepstakes for College Savings Month. Any Indiana resident who contributes to their CollegeChoice 529 Direct or Advisor Plan during the month of September will have a chance to win a $5,000 account deposit. This is for both new and existing accounts, including those who already utilize payroll deduct or AIP. 

IDeal – Idaho College Savings Account Bonus

During the month of September, IDeal Idaho College Savings Plan is giving a $25 match to the first 100 new accounts that set up an auto funding method.

Make Your Mark Contest, sponsored by my529 and the Utah System of Higher Education

The contest lets Utah students exhibit their talents by creating an original bookmark design for a chance to win a college savings scholarship. Eight Utah students in kindergarten through grade 12 will each receive a $1,000 college savings scholarship for their winning bookmark designs. Entrants must live in Utah. Ownership of a my529 account is not required. Submit an original bookmark design on the official entry form found here. Program open September 1 through 30, 2020.

Free Webinar ­– Maryland

In celebration of College Savings Month, Maryland 529 is hosting a live Intro to College Savings webinar on Wednesday, September 23 at 12 pm (ET). Learn about the features and benefits of the Maryland Prepaid College Trust and the Maryland College Investment Plan and have your questions answered by a Maryland 529 representative. MEFA Free Educational Events

MEFA plans to host a webinar about saving for college on September 15th at 7:00 pm, release a podcast episode, The Importance of Saving for College, on September 17th with Yiming Shuang from Inversant, a Massachusetts not-for-profit organization with a mission to ensure that through parental engagement every low-to-moderate-income family has the resources and understanding they need to achieve their goals for higher education, feature new educational videos, and offer one-on one appoints to families and students who are looking for additional guidance on how to plan, save, and pay for college.
