Nebraska's NEST 529 Advisor plan introduces convertible C shares, lowers fees

According to a recent press release, NEST 529 Advisor College Savings Plan will be making a number of enhancements to the plan, effective August 27, 2017. As a result of these changes, both advisors offering the plan and their clients will benefit from:

- A new share class structure that automatically converts from Class C to Class A units on the month following the fifth anniversary of the purchase date.
-Class A shares will be simplified so that all Class A shares charge a 3.50% load, prior to the application of breakpoints.
- The number of breakpoints will be simplified from six tiers to three.
- Total fees will be reduced in multiple age-based and static portfolio options.
- The maximum contribution limit will be raised from $360,000 to $400,000.

Improvements to the asset-based fees of the portfolios and increased contribution limits will also benefit the NEST Direct College Savings Plan and the TD Ameritrade 529 College Savings Plan.
