Utah 529 reduces expenses, adds customized investment option

The Utah Educational Savings Plan Trust, a 529 savings plan, has reduced its program management fee on Option 4 (S&P Index), Option 5 (Bonds), and Option 11 (FDIC-Insured Savings). The prior fee of 0.22% on those options is now either 0.15% (Option 5) or 0.18% (Options 4 and 11).

The plan has also eliminated the $15 annual account fee for non-Utah residents who agree to electronic delivery of account statements. Utah residents were already exempt from the fee.

A new investment option (Option 12) allows the account holder to select a customized asset allocation by selecting a mix of investments from a menu of 10 underlying investments.
