PA guaranteed savings to impose new fees

In its effort to remain financially solvent, the Pennsylvania 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan is changing some of its pricing and fee structure effective September 1, 2009.

Several categories of "tuition levels" offered by the plan will include a premium over current tuition costs of either 2% or 8%. In addition, the $25 annual account fee is being replaced by a 0.49% asset-based charge, so that a $2,000 account will be charged $9.80 but a $100,000 account will be charged $490.00 each year.
