National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship

Description: Awarded by the NASSP to US students who are currently seniors in high school and National Honor Society members. Students are selected for the scholarships based on demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The award amount will be at minimum $1,000 up to $13,000. 200 awards are offered. Winners are contacted in May.

What's Required for the Application: To apply for the scholarship, students must complete an application, write a narrative in response to a selected question and be a member of National Honor Society with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Your National Honor Society advisers must visit the Adviser Zone at http://ssoppro.principals.org/ssoppro/login.aspx to obtain needed forms.

What Makes it Unique: This is a unique scholarship because all nominees are judged against other nominees from their state and from schools of similar size within the state (small, medium, large, extra-large schools as defined in the nomination packet). This component of the selection process allows students to compete fairly against peers from similar educational circumstances.
