Collegiate Inventors Competition
Sponsored by: Collegiate Inventors Competition
Available to: Current full time college students
Deadline: June 24

Description: This contest is available to students who have been enrolled in college full time over the past 12 months. Students wishing to enter this competition must submit an original idea, process or technology. The entries will be judged on inventiveness as well as potential impact on or value to society. Groups of up to four students may work together on one entry. Of the entries submitted, 15 finalists will be chosen and given an all-expenses paid trip to present their work in front of a panel of judges. Of these finalists, one graduate and one undergraduate winner or team will each receive $15,000, and one grand prize winner or team will receive $25,000.
What's Required for the Application: While up to 4 students can collaborate on one project, at least one member of the team must fulfill the full-time student requirement. To submit an entry, participants must submit an application that can be downloaded from the website, an essay, complete with supplementary materials and literary research that describes the invention, as well as information about the individual or team’s adviser and statements of student status. A more detailed list of the application requirements, as well as a list of frequently asked questions can be found here. The panel of judges consists of a wide variety of experts in fields such as chemistry, engineering, physics, and medicine. The entries must be complete, workable, and able to be reproduced, and will be judged on their range of use.
What Makes it Unique: This contest is another that does not follow usual college scholarship format. Though highly competitive, the collegiate inventors competition allows students to make their ideas for products and technology a reality.
