Description: This program is available to full-time college students who demonstrate leadership and wish to promote freedom, American values, and constitutional principles on campus and in their communities. Renewable awards ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 will be given to outstanding students. Applicants must be in their sophomore or junior years at college and the scholarship is for use in the following academic year. College sophomores are preferred.
What's Required for the Application: The requirements for this scholarship are fairly extensive, but well detailed on the program’s website. Along with a certification of enrollment, two letters of recommendation, and a completed application form, applicants must submit a 500-750 word essay detailing their background, educational objectives, and their participation and leadership in activities that promote American values and constitutional principles. Students will also be asked to submit supporting documents of their leadership activities.
What Makes it Unique: This scholarship is geared towards those students looking to go into government or politics. By demonstrating their leadership and activities, this program allows students to show their commitment to promoting freedom and constitutional principles. While this scholarship is merit based rather then need based, students interested in U.S. government should be encourage to apply regardless of financial status, as evidence of need may still be taken into consideration. A review of the biographies of past recipients demonstrates the scholarship program is clearly targeted to political conservatives. Students of a different political persuasion should seek out scholarships from other organizations more aligned with their interests.
