Description: This scholarship offers financial assistance to students attending one of the 47 public Historically Black Colleges and Universities within the TMCF member-school network. Selected recipients will receive a one-year merit scholarship of $6,200, which will be used to cover the costs of tuition and fees, on-campus room and board, and required textbooks.

What's Required for the Application: Students must have a grade point average of at least 3.0, have demonstrated leadership ability through a variety of measures, and be recommended by a faculty or staff member of the school they are attending. A resume, Student Aid Report, recent transcript, recommendation, and 500-word essay are required for the application.

What Makes it Unique: This scholarship looks at student merit as well as need, like so many other scholarships. In addition, the TMCF Costco Scholarship places emphasis on demonstration of the student's leadership abilities, which gives applicants the ability to shine in other areas as well. The fact that this scholarship is open to those attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities also makes it unique.
