The largest and longest running prepaid tuition program in the country, the Stanley G. Tate Florida Prepaid College Program has helped over one million Florida families save for college and lock in the future cost of attending Florida's public institutions. The value of the plan can be used at any qualified institution nationwide.

The beneficiary or the parent/guardian must have been a Florida resident for the 12 months prior to enrollment.

College Illinois! was established to make college accessible and affordable for Illinois students and families. Program enrollment for 2023-24 is currently on hold pending continuing discussions with policymakers to help define proposals that will strengthen College Illinois! and efforts to move those proposals forward in the legislative process.

The account owner or beneficiary must be an Illinois resident for at least 12 months prior to application.

The Maryland 529 -- Prepaid College Trust has closed to new enrollments as of June 1, 2023.

The account holder or beneficiary must be a Maryland or District of Columbia resident at the time of program enrollment.

U.Plan

Massachusetts

The Massachusetts U.Plan Prepaid Tuition Program, not a true 529 plan, issues Massachusetts general obligation bonds (federal and MA state tax-free) which will be accepted at participating Massachusetts institutions in payment of tuition.

The Michigan Education Trust prepaid tuition program offers several options to the Michigan family to lock in tuition at Michigan public institutions. What makes this program different than most is that contributions are irrevocable.

The beneficiary must be a Michigan resident at the time of program enrollment.

Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (MPACT) Program offers a variety of tuition packages to Mississippi families. It was closed to new enrollment in 2012, pending results of an acutarial audit and reopened to new enrollees on October 1, 2014. Contracts purchased prior to October 1, 2014 are referred to as "Legacy Contracts"; contracts purchased on or after October 1, 2014 are referred to as "Horizon Contracts".

The account owner or beneficiary must be a Mississippi resident at the time of program enrollment.

Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program prepaid tuition program offers a variety of tuition packages to Nevada families and University of Nevada alumni.

The account owner or beneficiary must be a Nevada resident or account owner must be an alumnus of a Nevada college or university.

Private College 529 Plan is the only federally authorized 529 prepaid tuition plan that allows families to save on the cost at hundreds of private colleges across the country by locking in current tuition and fee rates -- guaranteed by the participating institutions. Tuition Plan Consortium, LLC (TPC), a not-for-profit Delaware limited liability company is the plan sponsor. TPC has appointed Alta Trust Company as program trustee to provide trust services. TPC also is authorized under the plan documents to engage service providers to perform certain functions on its behalf and has engaged Intuition College Savings Solutions, as program administrator, and Charles Schwab, as custodian, to provide certain services.

The West Virginia SMART529 Prepaid Tuition Plan was terminated on September 30, 2021. West Virginia also offers three 529 savings plans, the SMART529 Direct, SMART529 Select and The Hartford SMART529 plans.
