Since 1999, Savingforcollege.com has been a leading source of unbiased information on college savings plans. Each week tens of thousands of families and financial professionals visit the site, looking for information on 529 plans, financial aid, scholarships and other ways to save and pay for college.

Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of our new 529 ABLE plan details pages. ABLE savings plans allow individuals with disabilities save for education and other expenses without hurting their eligibility for Medicaid and other public benefits. These pages contain detailed information about each plan’s investment options, fees and expenses and tax benefits.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly one in five people are living with a disability. Many families who visit Savingforcollege.com to research traditional 529 plans could likely have another child who is eligible for an ABLE plan. These parents now have a single trusted source for information on education financing for all of their children.

Like traditional 529 plans, ABLE savings plans offer tax-free investment growth and tax-free withdrawals when the funds are spend toward qualified disability expenses. ABLE plans are state-sponsored, but only a few plans have residency requirements so families are encouraged to shop around for the best program to suit their needs.

A quick snapshot of each ABLE plan, along with a link to the plan details pages can be found here. You can also access each ABLE plan’s detail page through their state page.
