Vanguard 529 fees to drop

The annual "all-in" fee for each of the the age-based portfolios in The Vanguard 529 Savings Plan is being lowered from 0.50% to 0.44%, effective June 1, 2009. All-in fees include both the 529 plan management fees and the reported expenses of the underlying mutual funds.

Fees in the plan's 19 individual-fund portfolios are also being reduced. The plan will now be offering investment options with expense ratios ranging from 0.44% to 0.66%, compared to the previous range of 0.50% to 0.72%.

The Vanguard 529 Savings Plans is offered by the state of Nevada.
