Arizona 529 adds fixed-rate CDs
(October 28, 2008) - The Arizona Family College Savings Program has added one- and three-year fixed rate certificates of deposit (CDs) in its College Savings Bank-managed 529 savings program. The new CDs are now offered alongside the program's variable-rate CDs that are pegged either to college cost increases (CollegeSure CD) or to the S&P 500 Index (InvestorSure CD).
Interest rates on the CDs as of October 28, 2008 range from 3.40% to 3.85% and the rates on new CDs may change at any time. To lock in the posted CD rate, the account owner must open and fund the CD online.
