Survey shows college and retirement running neck and neck

A new survey of 3,000 Americans who expect to be paying for college found that 43 percent believe saving for college is more important, while an equal percentage believe saving for retirement is more important. Fourteen percent weren't sure.

The survey was compiled by Rasmussen Reports for COUNTRY Insurance & Financial Services.

The survey data revealed that young parents and lower income groups were more likely to choose college savings over retirement savings. A majority of parents (62 percent) plan to take responsibility for funding the bulk of college costs.
