ICI releases statistics on 529 plan growth
(May 8, 2006) - The Investment Company Institute has released data showing a 6.8 percent growth in assets in 529 plans and a 3.2 percent increase in the number of participant accounts during the 2005 fourth quarter. Assets in all 529 plans stood at $82.6 billion at December 31, 2005, with $68.7 billion of that total in 529 savings plans and $13.9 billion in 529 prepaid tuition plans. The survey highlights growth from 1998 to 2005.
