Mississippi conforms to federal exclusion for non-Mississippi 529s
(May 17, 2005) - A bill was approved by the Governor on March 23, 2005 to conform Mississippi income tax treatment to federal treatment for distributions from non-Mississippi 529 plans. The new exclusion is first effective for the 2005 tax year. Mississippi law contains a separate exclusion for qualified distributions from its in-state 529 plans.
