Texas residents gain creditor protection for all 529 assets
(October 10, 2003) - Effective September 1, 2003, all 529 accounts are exempt from attachment, execution, and seizure for the satisfaction of debts. This protection is not restricted to Texas 529 plans, but extends to accounts owned by Texas residents in other states' 529 plans. (Reference SB 1588)
