529 plans take center stage at Senate hearing
(July 22, 2004) - The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on July 22, 2004 titled "The Role of Higher Education Financing in Strengthening U.S. Competitiveness in a Global Economy." Several of the witnesses were associated with 529 plans and they pressed the Committee to support legislation that would make the exclusion for 529 withdrawals permanent.
