John Hancock Freedom 529 College Savings Plan lowers fees

The John Hancock Freedom 529 College Savings Plan has announced a reduction in fees. Effective June 9, 2014, the program management fee has been lowered by 10 basis points for all portfolios except the JH Money Market Portfolio, which was lowered by 5 basis points. The annual account maintenance fee has also been waived for all account holders who elect to receive documents electronically. As of September 2, 2014, the maximum up front sales charge will be reduced to 4 percent for the Fixed Income and Short-Term Bond Portfolios, and to 5 percent for all other portfolios.
