College savings assets reach record $180 billion
The Financial Research Corporation reports a 7% increase in 529 savings plan assets from $168.5 billion at the end of 2012 to $180 billion as of March 31, 2013.
529 net inflows (contributions minus withdrawals) were also higher, reaching an estimated $3.322 billion in 1Q13, up from $2.864 billion in 1Q12, and $3.1 billion in 4Q12.
