Vermont to enhance 529, stay with TIAA-CREF
(October 9, 2009) - The Vermont Student Assistance Corporation has renewed its agreement with TIAA-CREF Tuition Financing Inc. to manage the Vermont Higher Education Investment Plan with several enhancements.
The number of plan investment options has been expanded from three to six with the addition of the Equity Index Option, Balanced Option, and Fixed Income Option.
Total asset-based expenses for the age-based Managed Allocation Option have dropped from 0.80% to 0.53%, while expenses for the other options (except Interest Income) range from 0.53% to 0.80% (0.53% to 0.89% as of November 30 when the 100% Equity Option becomes the Diversified Equity Option).
The Interest Income Option remains a zero-fee option but will be renamed the Principal Plus Interest Option on November 30 and will offer a guaranteed principal investment strategy.
